Middle River Regional Jail is seeking a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant.

 

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) administers service to inmates housed in a jail facility. The CNA shall be responsible for preparing and maintaining medical files, electronic medical records (EMARS) and providing proper medical care for inmates. Work is performed in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures.

 

• Works closely with the health care provider, Registered Nurse (RN), and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in providing proper medical care for inmates.

• Reports to the Chief of Medical and Director of Nursing, Registered Nurse, Physician or higher authority.

• Completes medical forms such as forms for transfers to the department of corrections (DOC) or other facilities.

• Maintains confidentiality.

• Assists with provider orders.

• Performs routine medical checks and medical clearance of inmates for job detail.

• Ensures proper documentation of EMR and EMAR.

• Ensures medications are reordered for inmates in a timely manner to ensure there is no lapse in dosage.

• Check’s expiration dates on stock medication.

• Review’s inmates in Restrictive Housing including checking their vitals.

• Exchanges information with oncoming shift.

• Waits the 14-day period if medicine is not picked up after an inmate is released/transferred, then disposes of all unused or unclaimed medicine correctly following set disposal procedures.

• Reviews active reports, when medical orders are running low. The need for renewal of medications, and returns medications to the pharmacy.

• Reviews historical reports such as discontinued medications, medical orders, and quality of health (QOH) manual updates

• Performs additional duties or assignments by the Superintendent and/or Supervisor

 

Qualifications:

 

• High school graduate or equivalent

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification

• Training in CPR, First Aid, and AED skills required.

• Drug screen and background check will be performed. 

• Must be a citizen of the United States or legally employable in the United States.
